Server Types
What Is a Custom RSPS?
Custom content describes a departure from a chosen baseline, not a single style of gameplay.
New content changes the learning curve
A custom server adds or changes elements beyond its reference version. That can include equipment, encounters, interfaces, progression rules or combinations of existing systems. The scale of those changes varies widely.
Recognising an item’s name or appearance may not tell you how it performs. Use the project’s documentation instead of assuming that familiar equipment has familiar effects.
Look for a coherent progression path
Ask how early equipment leads to later goals and whether new rewards have understandable roles. A large item catalogue is less useful if the relationships between upgrades are unclear.
Read how the project explains balance updates and old content. Changes can be part of a lively experiment, but your enjoyment depends on whether the direction matches your preferences.
Try the parts you care about
Use a first session to test your intended activity. Observe how progression, controls and community interaction work together. A polished screenshot cannot show those relationships.
Compare several candidates using the same questions. If you know what you want from your next session, it becomes easier to choose between an ambitious feature list and a narrower experience that already works well for you.
