What Is an RSPS Client?
The application that draws the world and sends your actions to a compatible game server.
The part you interact with
The client displays the scene, chat, inventory and other interfaces. It collects your input and communicates with the server. Presentation settings may affect how comfortable it feels without changing the server’s gameplay rules.
A launcher is related but distinct: it may check files, download updates or start the actual game client. Some projects package both together.
Compatibility matters
A client expects particular network messages and data formats. It also needs assets and definitions it can interpret. A file that launches successfully can still be incompatible with the intended server or cache.
Use the version supplied through the project’s maintained joining instructions. If reporting a problem, note the client or launcher version and the action that produced it.
A client is not automatically a private server
Third-party client development and independent server operation are different activities. RuneLite, for example, identifies itself as an Old School RuneScape client. The application you use and the service it connects to are separate questions.
