What Is an RSPS Revision?
A version identifier that helps describe compatibility, but does not guarantee the contents of a modified server.
A label for a build
A revision identifies a version in a project’s history. In RuneScape-related development, a build number often helps identify the client or data generation being discussed. In a server listing, it may be shorthand for the project’s baseline.
Keep the context with the number. A client revision, a source repository revision and a marketing label are not necessarily the same thing.
Why two servers can share a number
Private operators can modify their client and content while retaining the original base label. A revision therefore does not fully specify the visible assets, enabled activities or gameplay behaviour.
For practical comparison, identify the client family, cache dataset and server implementation separately. Then check the actual features you intend to use.
Where to go next
Read RuneScape private server revisions explained for a fuller guide, or browse the revision reference for a starting set of compatibility questions.
When using an item lookup or cache archive, note which dataset is selected. An item ID without its dataset context can be misleading.
